PGDip/MSc Orthopaedic Medicine
This exciting programme has been developed as a collaborative venture between UCD and the Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine. Recognising the importance of continuing professional development (CPD), we provide the opportunity for experienced physiotherapists and medical practitioners to develop clinical, research and other relevant skills to extend their qualifications in orthopaedic medicine. You will explore injection therapy, advanced practice, project development and research methods. Having completed the three ISOM courses and passed the ISOM membership exam UCD will allow 25 credits towards an Msc. ISOM/MSC (Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy) UCG
MSc (Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy) - Applicants to this programme must be chartered physiotherapist graduates.Programme description
The MSc (Sports & Exercise Medicine) and the MSc (Sports Physiotherapy) programmes are designed for medical doctors and chartered physiotherapists interested in Sports & Exercise Medicine and Sports & Exercise Physiotherapy respectively. The overall intention of the MSc programme is to produce a successful student with a wide breadth of knowledge across Sports & Exercise Medicine and Sports & Exercise Physiotherapy and the necessary skills to put the theory into practice. It is proposed to teach these programmes on a shared learning educational model providing maximum interaction between the two disciplines of medicine and physiotherapy. Appropriate medical and physiotherapy tuition will be given when required. The ISOM teach two modules on this course.

Programme Content
Orthopaedic medicine is embedded as the underpinning of musculoskeletal medicine and therapy. The integration of the academic programme with clinical experience will drive both professional development and clinical enhancement in this field.
The programme will enable medical practitioners and physiotherapists to develop mastery in the application and integration of orthopaedic medicine into their clinical practice and to enhance the level of patient care, particularly in the field of musculoskeletal medicine and therapy.
The programme provides the opportunity for the experienced physiotherapist or medical practitioner to develop clinical, research and other relevant skills in relation to orthopaedic medicine.
